Years in Hua Hin
In their own words
Somchai Rattanakul
Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan
I had a pile of pension documents sitting on my desk for nearly two years because I did not know what to do with them or in what order they mattered. After the workshop, everything is in a labelled folder and I actually understand what each section is. It took one morning and I left feeling considerably calmer.

The process map was genuinely useful for getting an overview of what is typically involved. I found it reassuring that they were clear about what the guide does and does not cover — it manages expectations honestly, which I appreciated. The guide itself is well-written and larger print than I expected, which helped.

I was helping my mother manage her records and found the workshop very useful. The facilitators were patient and explained things without making us feel rushed or embarrassed for not knowing. My mother was nervous beforehand and left in good spirits. That matters as much as the practical output.

I came to the workshop on the recommendation of a friend in the expat community here. It is exactly as described — they help you sort what you have, explain the logic of the folder structure, and do not pressure you to move faster than you are comfortable with. Good value for what you receive.

I ordered the process map for my father, who wanted to understand what would be involved in managing his documents before doing anything practical. He found it very readable and said it removed a lot of the uncertainty he had been carrying. The delivery was quick and the format is clear. He has since attended a workshop as well.

We brought in Sagewell for the operational consulting engagement. The process review was thorough and the written report was genuinely useful — specific enough to act on, written in language our staff could follow without needing further interpretation. We have already implemented three of the recommendations.

Three detailed journeys
These accounts describe the situations people brought to us and what the engagement involved. Names and identifying details have been altered.
An older adult managing paperwork alone for the first time
The Situation
A retired man in his mid-seventies, recently widowed, found himself dealing with pension-related paperwork that his wife had previously managed. He had no clear sense of which documents were important, which were outdated, or what the usual sequence of administrative steps looked like.
What We Did
He attended a Guided Organisation Workshop. In the three-hour session, he worked through all his documents with a facilitator sitting alongside him. By the end, everything was in a labelled folder with a colour-coded divider system and a checklist he could use at home going forward.
The Outcome
He left with a fully organised file and a clear sense of what he had and where to find it. He subsequently said that the main benefit was not the folder itself but that he no longer felt overwhelmed when he thought about his paperwork. He went on to order the process map as a reference guide.
"I had been putting it off because I did not know where to start. The workshop gave me a starting point and took away the feeling that I was falling behind."
A family member helping from a distance
The Situation
An adult daughter in Bangkok was trying to help her mother in Hua Hin manage pension-related paperwork. She could not be present in person regularly, and her mother was uncertain about the sequence of steps involved. The daughter wanted a resource her mother could follow independently.
What We Did
The daughter contacted us and ordered the Step-by-Step Process Map on her mother's behalf. We sent a printed copy to the Hua Hin address within two working days. The daughter also called us with a clarifying question about one section, which we answered directly.
The Outcome
The mother worked through the guide over several evenings and told her daughter it helped her understand what was typically involved. She felt more prepared and less uncertain. The printed format suited her preference for having something physical to read and annotate.
"My mother does not use a computer much, so having a printed guide she could keep on her desk and refer back to was exactly the right format for her."
A care home with inconsistent administrative processes
The Situation
A small care home near Hua Hin had grown steadily over five years, and their processes for handling residents' pension paperwork had developed in an ad-hoc way. Different staff members handled things differently, records were sometimes incomplete, and the home director wanted a more consistent approach.
What We Did
We conducted a two-day on-site process review, interviewing five staff members and reviewing the current workflow. We then produced a written recommendations report covering document intake, labelling, storage, and handover procedures — with numbered recommendations ordered by ease of implementation.
The Outcome
Within six weeks of receiving the report, the care home had implemented four of the seven recommendations. The director reported that handovers between shifts were smoother and that staff felt more confident about the paperwork side of their role. Three recommendations remained on a longer-term implementation list.
"The report was specific enough to act on without being prescriptive. We could implement things at our own pace and in the order that made sense for us."
